Author's note: The two characters are ones I created for an RPG. This song just continued to make me think of them, so I made this songfic.

[Opening Music]
She walks out the door, of his chamber, closing it behind her.

Sometimes when this place gets kinda empty
He sits in his chair, watching the door close.

The sound of their breath fades with the light
She slowly walks away from the door and down the dimly-lit hallway.

I think about the loveless fascination
A slight smile plays on his lips as he continues to watch the closed door

Under the Milky Way tonight
His head turns slowly towards the window. It's dark outside, except for the stars.

Lower the curtain down on Memphis
He gets up from his chair and walks to the window

Lower the curtain down, all right
He turns from the window as there is a knock on the door and a young man enters.

I've got no time for private consultation
He sighs and waves the young man away. The young man leaves

Under the Milky Way tonight
He turns back to the window and stares at the stars

I wish I knew what you were looking for
He looks at his reflection in the window

I might have know what you would find
His reflection is replaced by her image. He partly raises his hand to touch the image.

And it's something quite pecular
He turns from the window and walks away.

Something shimmering and white
He opens a glass door that leads outside.

It leads you here, despite your destination
He walks into the garden, absently touching the flowers as he walks along.

Under the Milky Way tonight
He gazes up at the stars.

Wish I knew what you were looking for
I might have known what you would find
Something catches his eye. A glimmer.

He turns to see that a light is on in her room.

[Music interlude]
He sees her come to the window and look out. She doesn't see him. After a few moments, she moves away from the window.

And it's something quite pecular
The light in her room goes out.

He continues to stare at her window.

The door opens and she walks outside.

She stops and looks up at the stars.

She walks through the garden. She looks preoccupied.

He watches her, though she doesn't see him.

She turns and heads back.

She opens the door. She stops, looks up at the stars, and sighs.

He watches the door close, wondering about her.

His eyes travel over to her window.

He looks up at the stars.

He looks at her window one last time, and heads back to the door to his chamber.
